Community Workshops
& Cooking Classes
Connect through food, story, and shared experience.
Cocina Libre offers two hands-on experiences that bring people together around the table: community workshops and cooking classes. Both are led by immigrant chefs and cultural facilitators, and each one is designed to spark curiosity, connection, and cultural learning through food.
Community Workshops
Interactive storytelling experiences for public audiences
Our community workshops blend food, narrative, and dialogue to explore culture, identity, and belonging in ways that are both accessible and deeply meaningful. These 1.5–2 hour sessions are ideal for libraries, museums, conferences, arts organizations, and community programs.
Each workshop includes:
A live or hands-on cooking experience
Personal stories from immigrant chefs or community leaders
Guided discussions on culture, identity, and shared values
A chance to taste and reflect together
Past hosts include:
Colorado Creative Industries, Anythink Libraries, Denver Library, NLPA National Conference, Heritage Lakewood, Centro del Barrio and more.
These workshops are flexible and can be tailored for adults, families, or intergenerational groups.
Cooking Classes
Hands-on culinary experiences with immigrant chefs
Roll up your sleeves and explore the world through food! Our cooking classes invite you to prepare authentic dishes alongside our immigrant chefs, learning not just recipes but the rich personal and cultural stories behind them. These classes are perfect for:
Food lovers and home cooks
Families and friend groups
Team-building activities
Cultural or language programs
Whether you’re making arepas, empanadas, tamales, or salsas, every class is designed to be hands-on, welcoming, and full of flavor.
